Post Everlasting Resolution:  Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God, the Great Commander, to summon to the immortal legions our beloved comrades.  We humbly bow to the will of Divine Providence, while ever cherishing in our hearts the memory of distinguished service to our country and outstanding contributions to American Legion comradeship.

Daniel Douglas Sellars, 91, of Ayden, NC, passed away Feb 12, 2026.

  

Born Nov 3, 1934 in N.C. He was the son of William & Kathleen Sellars and the youngest of 6  siblings. Graduated Bolivia H.S.  Enlisted in USAF & was an Air traffic Controller. Worked in Fla at Pratt & Whitney, he met, June & married in 1966. Moved to Ayden NC, where he worked & retired from Texas Gulf Phosphate.

Jack Weathersby, 80, of Bethel, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sept 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, faith, and love. Interment occurred on Sep 21, 2025 at Pinewood Cemetery in Greenville, NC. Born on May 26, 1945, Jack lived a full life dedicated to his family, his community, and his Lord.





Peter "Salty Dog" Berghold, 68, of Ayden NC, passed away on November 22, 2024.


He grew up in Dorchester, MA & served in the Navy for 6 yrs. His 1st duty station was New London submarine base &  part of the original crew of USS Cushing in San Diego. He had the honor to stand watch of the Nautilus that was the 1st nuclear submarine.

Reuben L. Hill Jr., 74, of Grifton, NC, passed away on October 31, 2024. 


Born on May 12, 1950, Reuben was a devoted family man & community member whose integrity, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was the son of Reuben Sr. and Remona Hill and grew up in Kinston, NC.

Gregory Scott "Honey Bun" Wells, 69, of Ayden, NC, passed away on December 1, 2023.


A native CA, Greg was born to George & Willowein Wells. As a proud Veteran of the USMC, served at Camp Lejeune in NC. He made his home in Pitt County & worked as a Detention Officer for more than 15 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

James Albert Walley, 88, of Grifton, NC, passed away on April 16, 2023.


He began his military career with the USMC in 1951 & served his country with distinction for 20 yrs. He was a decorated veteran of both the Korean & Vietnam Wars and was awarded the Bronze Star  in connection with combat operations. He was also a 50+ year member of Am Legion Post 289.
